Amazon's own Send to Kindle takes the EPUB.
- Amazon's own Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB files.
- Email the file to your kindle.com address, drop it into the Send to Kindle web tool, or use the Send to Kindle app.
- The book usually appears in your Kindle library within minutes and reads much like any other Kindle book.
- If you prefer not to use Send to Kindle, the free Calibre app converts EPUB to Kindle's MOBI or AZW3 format in seconds.

How to send an EPUB to Kindle, three ways
Amazon’s free Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB files directly, so there is nothing to convert, and you can use whichever route suits the device in your hand.
1. From a computer, with the Send to Kindle web page
- Open amazon.com/sendtokindle and sign in with your Amazon account.
- Drag the EPUB onto the page, or choose it from your files. Amazon accepts files of 200 MB or smaller this way.
- Leave “Add to your library” switched on, then send. The book is saved to your Kindle library, ready on your compatible Kindle devices and Kindle apps.
2. By email, to your Kindle address
- Find your Send to Kindle address in Manage Your Content and Devices, under Preferences, then Personal Document Settings.
- Check the email you will send from is on the Approved Personal Document Email List on that same screen.
- Attach the EPUB and send it to your kindle.com address. No subject line is needed.
3. From a phone or tablet, with the Kindle app
- Find the EPUB in your Files app or downloads on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
- Tap Share and choose Kindle. The Kindle app needs to be installed and signed in.
- The file is added to your Kindle library and appears on your other devices.
Amazon also offers Send to Kindle apps for Mac and Windows if you would rather drag files from your desktop.
If something does not work
The Send to Kindle email did not arrive
Give it a few minutes, then check your own email inbox and spam folder for any message from Amazon about the file.
Send to Kindle only accepts files from an approved sender address, so make sure you sent it from an email you added to your Amazon account.
If email is fussy, the Send to Kindle web uploader and app skip email entirely.
The file opened in the wrong app
That just means another app grabbed the file type.
Long press or right click the file and choose Open With, then pick your reading app.
Set it as the default so every ebook opens there.
The file seems large or will not send
Skip email and use the Send to Kindle web uploader or the app, which handle larger files comfortably.
On a computer, the free Calibre app imports the file with no size limit.
Do I need a special app or an account?
No.
